Supporting those who Spread the good news

Whether it's with a Bible study, a worship service, a discipleship training program, teaching in a school, or in a canoe building relationships, we support a number of missionaries around the world and right here in our own city.

  • Tal and Christina James have been working among the local Coast Salish First Nations People since 2001.

Tal James is from the local Penelakut tribe. In partnership with the First Nations communities, we have developed a program called R.O.O.T.S, providing safe and fun opportunities for First Nations people to encounter Jesus while rediscovering traditional and using contemporary technology and skills. Kayaking, wilderness trips, day trips that include education in traditional foods, survival skills, archery and participation in community events are some of the tools being used to share the love of Christ.

Tal is also involved in a variety of other ministry opportunities from speaking engagements over reconciliation ministry to pastoral care.

Presently we are in the beginning stages of developing a R.O.O.T.S Drop-in-House on Penelakut Island in coordination with the First Nation community in order to provide a safe place for all ages. It will be used under our supervision, opening up many opportunities such as privacy to talk, cry, laugh , etc., small group programs (e.g., youth group), offering small workshops like drum making. The opportunities are many.
