coldest Night of the Year ~ February 23

John Barsby School - 550 7th Ave

Registration opens at 4pm

The Coldest Night of the Year is a walk that raises money for folks in our community who need our help. Some of them hungry, more than a few hurting and regrettably, some who are homeless too. Adults, moms and kids, seniors and youth as well.

Nanaimo's funds go to Island Crisis Care Society, towards the women's shelter expansion.

Register online here to join our team. When it gets to the part about the $25 registration fee, DO NOT CHECK THAT BOX. DO NOT PAY. Every year each person gets the $150 donations through church, family, and friends so they do not have to pay that fee.

Any questions, email Lynnsey in the office.

P.S. Last year over 21,000 walkers across Canada joined this event raising just under $5 million - it's Canada's National Walk for Homelessness.

Sunday Night Opportunities

Small Group for Medium-Aged Attenders

A small group is being started on Sunday nights. This is intended to be family friendly, inclusive of singles, mixed families, and children. We are wanting to build relationships within our church family and think a small group is the best way to engage everyone.

Format will be on a rotation of full family meal, women's study, men's study, and mixed study. A video series from Right Now Media will be used for the study. Host families will be rotated. A Sunday off will also be mixed into the rotation.

Women meet at the Shaw House, Sunday, February 3 at 7pm for lesson 2. Men will meet at the Stewart House, Sunday, February 10 for lesson 2.

Sunday Night Drop-In

The Outreach, Evangelism and Missions Team is resuming the Sunday Night Drop-In from 7-8:30pm.

A typical evening begins with refreshments followed by the host introduction. We will watch a short 10 minute video and then discuss in small groups at tables. Each participant will have a one-page guide of questions for each session. You may drop in any week, no preparation is needed.

The current session is The Book of Ephesians with author Pastor J.D. Greear.

Men's Breakfast ~ Sat. March 2

Guest speaker will be recently retired Pastor Chris Wilson from the Nanoose Evangelical Free Church. Pastor Chris has been a welcome regular with many of the NEFC men fellowshipping with us monthly. He has a testimony he wishes to share with us of God's grace and his call to the ministry.

Women's Breakfast ~ Sat. March 16

Opportunities to serve

Looking for people who would be able to come to the church whenever we have a snowfall of 2 inches or more to shovel any or all of the following:

~the steps from the parking lot

~wheelchair ramp up to the entry doors

~wheelchair ramp on the gas station side to downstairs

Bring your shovel (or borrow one from the church) and do any of the above areas.

If you would like to be on the crew, contact Murray.

The Spiritual Growth and Discipleship Team is working on another church-wide Bible reading project. Would you be willing to occasionally be recorded reading Bible passages? There is a sign-up sheet at the Welcome Center. If you have any questions contact Dick Duifhuis, Karin Mattern, Arlene Sevenhuysen, or Charlene Briese.
